Theater Alliance announced their season Monday -- and noted, by the way, that they've hired Melissa-Leigh Douglass as their first managing director. So if you walk into their offices and find people doing explosive Grotowski-ish things, just act like that happens in your cube-warren, too.
Oh, and they've commissioned something from Norman Allen, though they don't so much say what, or when it might be produced.
No, wait, shut up: Tboy just read the second paragraph of the press release. The season opener is by one Phoebe Rusch, a 17-year-old junior at the Interlochen Arts Academy, where Tboy almost went to school back when he thought he wanted to be an opera singer. One of his best singer friends in high school went there. (She later turned to Wicca and gave up singing, but that's another story.) Tboy thinks this is a fantastic leap of faith/commitment to a promising young writer on the part of an ambitious, growing, rapidly professionalizing young company. Or perhaps sheer madness. Or perhaps both. Anyway: Way to get Tboy's attention!
Oh, and it looks like David Muse, who had a hit with The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow at Studio last summer, will be directing the East Coast premiere of Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye, which is set for a New York run in fall 2007.
Is there a full season posted anywhere? Having recently debuted a fabulous new site, they forgot to include press releases and season info. Would love to know what they are going to roll out in the new season.

As a fellow grotowski-er with Ms Douglass, and a current player on their stage, I'm really excited for her and the company. It's a great fit.

And you yelled at me for outing you.

Oh and congratulations Ms. Douglass. Its a sweet fit.

Yeah, Congrats to her and the company for their current show.
It's like a Muppet Babies episode on acid.
Oh, and with Carlos.

Thanks Jeremy. This looks like a very exciting and ambitious season. Especially excited about seeing Timothy Douglas' work in DC. He is a fantastic visionary. I love particularly when he and Tony Cisek collaborate. The result is always a sumptuous visuals and a brillaint physical production. Kudos and congrats.

OK, it's really mortifying to have somebody else notice that, as you blogged away in the weest of hours, you've typed "Tony Morrison" when clearly you meant "Toni."
It's really heartening, however, to remember that on the Web, there are do-overs.

No, it's got to be Tony Morrison. Jim Morrison doesn't want anyone to know he's alive and writing plays, but he likes his last name. This is a long awaited production.

Technically, he would offer a 403(b).
Technically.
